C. SITUACIÓN: Reporte de Situación [SITREP] del 17 1952Z JUN2009 . We have been again asked by family in Guernsey, Channel Islands, to try to find the subject yacht, which was originally reported to BASRA in early April as having sailed from Charleston SC on 23rd March, bound for Nassau, Bahamas in early April, where the owner, Kenneth M. Jackson, was supposed to check in with the US Embassy concerning his US visa problems. It seems he had overstayed his US presence while buying and finishing the yacht, left the US originally (probably from N Carolina), encountered strong NE winds and been forced into Charleston, where Immigration took him into custody.

His parents in Guernsey paid him funds to be released, fuel & provision the yacht, then clear into Bahamas Customs. We suspect he never did that when he arrived in Nassau. The yacht was reported to have been seen in Nassau on 2nd April and also we received reports of sightings in Royal Is., Staniel Cay and a port in Long Is., Bahamas. We are awaiting confirmation of these sightings, but were satisfied with them at the time in mid-April. Apparently, his family have not heard from him since, so we have been asked to try to find the yacht and Mr. Jackson, apparently headed southwards.
